The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Project Leader to assist our Adelaide based mining and resources program, who has mining industry experience and understands clients’ requirements. This role provides an opportunity to work with teams of Engineers and Designers across a variety of programs, depending on the project scope. Our ideal candidates would have 10 to 15 years’ experience in a broad range of civil engineering, project management and client facing roles.

About the role:

You will be responsible for:

• Managing scope, time, cost, quality, risks, procurement, communication and resourcing of projects in the mining and resources program and other programs if required
• Developing proposals for a range of mining and resources related projects
• Addressing any project issues raised by team members or by the client
• Proactive communication with clients and team members throughout the life of the projects
• Ensuring that the appropriate technical review, verification and validation of projects is being undertaken
• Maintaining and building client relationships, developing ongoing contacts with clients as required
• Contributing to growing the pipeline of work in the mining and resources space by increasing Tonkin’s industry presence and status through active industry participation
• Working in a collaborative environment with a range of disciplines throughout Tonkin’s other businesses and with allied consulting practices
• Contributing to growing the teams’ knowledge and technical understanding through knowledge transfer activities, and mentoring support that builds individual, team and organisational capability in the field
• Maintaining an awareness of the current standards, guidelines, innovations and changes in the industry

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• 10-15 years of experience, with a preference of having exposure to design projects within the mining field
• MIEAust, or CPEng
• Strong report writing and communication skills
• Experience and knowledge in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, codes, practices and standards.
• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
