Job Description

As part of the M80 Ring Road project, we are extending the Greensborough Highway rail tunnel and upgrading the track and civils. We’re looking for a Rail Lead to manage the package of works and ensure that this critical package is completed on time to allow the continued development of the M80 Ring Road project.

The Project

This package of works covers the design and construction of the North East Link between the M80 - Plenty Rd interchange, and the north tunnel entrance at Watsonia. Works include three kilometres of new freeway, two kilometres of freeway upgrades, construction of retaining walls and bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, and urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be complete in 2028. 

Scope includes

  • 2km of CSR
  • Tunnel services building, updated Track Drainage, Signalling disconnection & Reinstatement through area.
  • 1.7km of track works including approximately 1kn of ballast less track system
  • New OHLE system
  • 1.7km of track works
  • Fire and life safety upgrades

Responsibilities

  • Align Weekly Works Plan with 6 Week Lookahead Program and project schedule.
  • Develop, maintain, and report against detailed 6WLAP and Occupation Programs. Review critical path monthly and manage the achievable project schedule.
  • Identify and forecast risks and opportunities for the scope of works. Monitor cost versus budget, update forecasts, and assess risk allowances. Ensure delegated scope meets performance targets in time, cost, and quality.
  • Ensure timely survey requests and forecast labor hours. Obtain authorities' approvals, manage changes, and analyze risks. Drive coordination of trades, subcontractors, and maintain site conditions.
  • Implement controls for cost recoveries, administer records for potential insurance claims.
  • Lead design reviews, considering sustainability principles. Review drawings, manage RFI process, and utilize digital engineering tools.
  • Promote innovative technology adoption on the project site.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree or similar
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role in the civil construction industry
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in rail infrastructure projects
  • Experience in subcontractor management and self perform projects
