About the role
As the Lad Rail Safety Manager, you are integral to the success of V/Line's Safety, Sustainability and Risk Group.
Reporting to the Reporting to the Director - Rail Safety & Access with and operationally into the relevant Project Manager you will be the liaison to senior management and provide leadership and oversee supervision to the Rail Safety Managers Projects. This role will provide guidance and interpretation of Rail Safety related policy and will also support the various projects with compliance to Rail Safety management policies, procedure, and process.
Some Key Accountabilities include:
· Provide day to day management and support to the Rail Safety Managers Projects and facilitate the communication conduit to the Director Rail Safety & Access.
· Foster and encourage solid working relationships between Safety - Network Maintenance, Projects and NDAM contract safe-working labour hire firms engaged on site.
· Facilitate team meetings to ensure alignment and collaboration across projects.
· Provide safe-working advice and direction to the Projects Rail Safety Managers as necessary.
· Provide dedicated 24/7 safe-working advice to the nominated Project Manager and project personnel.
· Provide specialist advice on Vline specific work on track requirements and those of adjacent Rail Infrastructure Managers.
· Engage contract safe-working labour hire
· Develop Rail Safety Management Plans
You will be required to go between our CBD office and North Melbourne Safe Working team depot and attend project sites regularly, which on occasions includes outside of standard business hours.

About you
To be successful in this role you will bring your people leadership and strong stakeholder engagement ability. You will have a strong appreciation for rules and compliance and strong influencing skills.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
· TFPC3.2 Competency in theory or practical application - mandatory
· Operational Safe-working Supervisor qualified (or ready to undergo accreditation)- desirable
· Demonstrated exposure to working on track within the Vline Network and its key interface points with adjacent Rail Infrastructure Managers.
· Sound knowledge of the Vline 'Work on Track' Rules, Operating Procedures and supporting Section 34 appendices
· Ability to develop Rail Safety Management Plans in accordance with works readiness requirements.
· Geographical knowledge of V/Line Network
· Demonstrated experience working within an Alliance framework.
· Demonstrated experience in the facilitation of risk assessments in accordance with SFAIRP principals.
· Demonstrated experience in the management of and supervision of a geographically dispersed team.
· Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
· Rail Industry Workers Card - mandatory
· Valid Victorian Drivers License - essential
