We are currently seeking a Project Mine Geologist to join our Golden Grove Geology team. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and experienced Geology team working on a World-Class VMS deposit. This is a permanent position, offered on an 8/6 roster FIFO from either Perth or Geraldton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Grade Control activities and ore management activities;
- Routine drilling data management and QAQC;
- Daily and monthly reporting and reconciliation;
- Create and report short-term weekly forecast mine grade schedules for use by the mill;
- Log diamond drill core;
- Plan, design and monitor underground diamond drilling;
- Provide robust short- and long-term drilling schedules to the Mining Department;
- Aid in construction and maintenance of block models;
- Provide support in ore characterisation studies;
- General duties as directed by the Senior Mine Geologists;
- Review and maintain quality control of geological data;
- Develop and maintain all mine geology procedures;
- Identify, plan and implement business improvement opportunities relating to mine geology;
- Project work as directed by the Senior Mine Geologist; and
- Mentor and train Graduate and Mine Geologists.
- Tertiary Degree in Geology;
- 4 – 7 years industry experience with a minimum of 3 years underground Mine Geologist experience;
- Experience in mentoring and training Graduate Geologists, Mine Geologists and Mine Technicians;
- Strong understanding of underground drilling processes;
- Understanding of geological databases;
- Experience using mining software – Vulcan/Deswik experience advantageous;
- Well-developed knowledge of underground mine geology;
- Understanding of drill/project scheduling to ensure that drilling is optimised;
- Understanding mining and project schedules;
- A focus on safety and teamwork;
- Organisational and time management skills; and
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills;
Candidates will be required to meet our pre-employment criteria which includes a medical, drug and alcohol screening, hold a valid manual driver’s licence and a valid National Police Clearance.
