Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.
The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.
The role
The Development Group is responsible for overseeing the growth and development of Queensland Hydro into a world class business by supporting the organisation in setting up to deliver projects aligned to business case and corporate targets and prepare the business to evolve to be the eventual owner and operator of significant hydropower assets.
The Project Quality Manager will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining high-quality construction and operation standards, managing risks, optimising cost efficiency, and prioritising stakeholder satisfaction. Responsible for implementing robust quality management processes throughout the project lifecycle, the Project Quality Manager will oversee long-term performance objectives to deliver a sustainable and successful pumped hydroelectric project that meets the needs of our community and stakeholders.
The key accountabilities are to:
- Lead the development and implementation of Queensland Hydro quality management systems for the entire project lifecycle from planning and design to construction, commissioning, and operation to ensure all works are completed in accordance with required contract conditions, standards/regulations, and company specifications.
- Review all quality specifications to ensure all QA/QC project deliverables required under the contract are captured and processes are in place to ensure they are achieved.
- Manage, coordinate and review project related quality documentation such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Lot Records, Manufacturing Data Reports (MDRs), Vendor Records etc.
- Ensure alignment between the delivery partner’s quality systems & processes and the project's quality objectives, standards, and requirements.
- Prepare and maintain an audit and surveillance program, carrying out and reporting audit findings in accordance with the Business and project requirements.
- Identify, manage, and monitor quality objectives, requirements, risks and other issues that may adversely impact the surety of successful project delivery.
- Establish and maintain effective supplier quality management processes which may include regular assessments of supplier performance, addressing any quality issues or non-conformities promptly, and fostering collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure continuous improvement in quality and reliability of supplied goods and services.
- Develop and deliver quality related training to our delivery partners, suppliers as well as the delivery team.
- Establish and present accurate and reliable data and analytics to senior management across the business and project
About you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 10 years + in related field of quality management with proven experience in implementing Quality Management Systems on large infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to hydroelectric projects highly regarded.
- Current and Valid Australian Drivers licence
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of quality management principles and methodologies
- Ability to set up and maintain a common data environment for quality related records.
- Analytical abilities to assess quality metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of international standards including ISO 9001.
- A hands-on service delivery mindset to the provision of quality management systems and their application.
- Strong knowledge of systems applications, requirements, configuration, development and use e.g. InEight/TeamBinder
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and manage multiple stakeholders.
