The key activity of the LSMU program is to protect the ecological complexity and biodiversity of the Torres Strait region, and the strong and enduring connection of Torres Strait Islander people to their islands and sea.
Key initiatives include:
· undertaking land and sea planning and operations.
· Working in partnership with Traditional Owners, and Registered Native Title and Prescribed Bodies Corporate to maintain Indigenous Protected Areas, traditional ecological knowledge, and undertake community planning and engagement through the Ranger project.
