Role Overview
Are you a seasoned professional in underground mining operations, ready to take on a challenging leadership role? Barrick Gold Porgera Operations is seeking a dynamic and experienced Projects Foreman to oversee crucial aspects of our underground operations. As the Projects Foreman, you will play a pivotal role in restarting Porgera's underground pastefill operations, managing construction projects, and overseeing raise boring activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Restart Porgera Underground Pastefill Operations
- Lead the efforts to restart and optimize underground pastefill operations at the Porgera mine site, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Implement best practices and innovative techniques to enhance pastefilling processes and maximize productivity.
Oversee Construction Projects and Raise Boring:
- Take charge of all construction projects and raise boring activities in the underground department, overseeing planning, execution, and completion.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure that construction projects align with mine plans and operational goals.
Team Management and Development:
- Manage the performance, behavior, and professional development of the team under your supervision, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities in underground mining operations.
Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop comprehensive plans and schedules for underground activities, aligning resources and manpower to achieve targets set by the business.
- Monitor progress against plans, making adjustments as necessary to optimize efficiency and meet operational objectives.
Safety and Productivity Optimization:
- Apply in-depth knowledge and expertise in underground hardrock mining practices to ensure a safe working environment and maximize productivity.
- Implement robust safety protocols and procedures, conduct regular risk assessments and take proactive measures to mitigate hazards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Highly experienced in underground pastefilling, with a proven track record of success in optimizing pastefill operations.
- Previous experience in managing construction projects and raise boring activities in an underground mining environment is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of underground mining practices, regulations, and safety standards, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
