Property Inspection Officer

Wagga Wagga City Council is currently seeking an experienced individual, with a background in building infrastructure to conduct Property Inspections and condition assessments for Council’s building portfolio. The position of Property Inspection Officer is a fundamental role which will assist to influence Council’s ability to achieve its stated strategic goals and will be essential in increasing Council’s asset management capability. What we will offer you: Commencing salary at $3,136.26 gpf with the opportunity to progress to $3,763.51 gpf superannuation Ongoing training and development opportunities Generous leave entitlements Access to Council’s Flexible Working Hours Agreement Your new role: Reporting to the Facilities Management Coordinator this varied position will take a lead on managing asset data collection and disseminating information to assist in managing Council’s facilities. This position will play a vital part in supporting the facilities division while simultaneously ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings within our community. Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Conduct Property Inspections with tenants at the commencement, renewal, and closure stages of each lease and licence agreement in Council’s property portfolio. Following inspections, provide reports and advice to Council’s Property Coordinator. Conduct regular building condition assessments of Council buildings. Following condition assessments, upload information into Council’s asset management system and provide reports and advice compliant with building legislation to Council’s Facilities Management Coordinator. Assist in regular reviewing of all asset classes as required, including replacement costs from information gathered in condition assessments undertaken. Assist in regular reviewing, maintaining, and updating asset management plans to ensure plans remain relevant, effective, and incorporate technical advancements within the industry. Ensure Council’s Work Health & Safety (WHS) responsibilities with respect to building structure and building maintenance are in accordance with legislative requirements. Lead, engage, mentor and develop staff reports, ensuring effective personnel management, in order to achieve the best organisational and community outcomes for service delivery. What you will need to succeed: We are looking for someone with: Qualifications relevant to the role i.e., trade related qualifications (building and construction), project management, property management or similar Class C Driver’s Licence Strong organisational, time management and communication skills Ability to learn and apply building codes and regulations General Construction Induction Training Card Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) Asset Management Certificate (Desirable) What is next?
