The Client
Our client is a State Government Department entrusted with the responsibility to deliver a range of housing support services to all Queenslanders in addition to supporting the creation of thriving communities by connecting people to the services they need.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be conducting property inspections on buildings across a diverse property portfolio. You will also play an integral role in contributing to the development and implementation of maintenance plans that maintain and enhance the condition, value and utilisation of these buildings.
You will be responsible for conducting site inspections on new and existing buildings through Far North Queensland inclusive of communities in Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands conducting property condition appraisals using the department's data management systems.
You will be required to travel on a week on/week off basis to remote communities throughout far north Queensland. This entails flying out on Monday and returning to Cairns on Friday.
This role is perfectly suited to a trades person who may be looking to 'get off the tools' and move into a State Government role which provides opportunity for further career development.
About You
To be successful in this role you will:
- Maintain the technical ability (or previous experience) to complete property inspections to submit audits/reviews on the condition of state government owned buildings.
- Ability to understand technical aspects of residential building works, plans, materials and building legislation and regulations.
- Maintain and update departmental information systems with the ability to use a variety of software and data applications.
- Maintain knowledge and understand of cross-cultural protocols and departmental policies to effectively and sensitively consult, negotiate and communicate with stakeholders, customers and community members.
- Prepare timely and well-constructed documentation and reports.
- The ability to pass a criminal history check.
- Hold a current C Class drivers license.
