Job titleProperty ParalegalYour roleIn the position of junior Property Paralegal, you will be based in Melbourne and be supported and trained as you learn and develop responsibility for the day-to-day administration of conveyancing and registration matters under the guidance of our team of Property Paralegals, registration assistants, our National PEXA Coordinator, Partners and lawyers.This includes opening files, preparing contracts of sale, vendors statements and conveyancing related documentation, drafting special conditions, attending to settlements, ensuring the return of documents and dealing with day to day conveyancing and registration issues. You will also develop your skills so as to take responsibility for the management of document registers.You will have close contact with clients and counterparties to ensure the timely conclusion of conveyancing matters. You will also undertake title and property searches to assist lawyers and Partners with transactional and advisory work and attend to registration of a variety of property documents. It is envisaged that you will work closely with, and be coached by, our experienced corporate service team, in particular our National PEXA Coordinator, Property Paralegal and Registration Assistant.This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. Hybrid working (60% in the office) is how we work however flexibility matters at Allens, so if you are seeking hybrid working or are looking for flexibility in your work, we would be happy to discuss what arrangements would work best for you.About youTo perform this role successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with an emphasis on accuracy and self-sufficiency as there is no secretarial support in this role. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, skills and abilities required.
  • Ability to work with others, sharing knowledge and cooperating to achieve group goals.
  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience as a paralegal, law clerk or licensed conveyancer, ideally within a Real Estate or Banking and Finance practice.
  • Familiarity and experience using the PEXA platform.
  • A high attention to detail and meticulous organisational skills.
  • An ability to work at pace, where you thrive under pressured, deadline driven environments.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • A natural ability to problem solve and come up with solutions.
  • Confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders.
  • A Diploma of Conveyancing or previous experience working in a large professional services environment would be highly desirable.
