Your new role In the dynamic role of Prosecutions Officer within the Legal & Governance Unit, you will be instrumental in leading prosecution and enforcement actions on behalf of the Council. Reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel - Prosecutions, your responsibilities will encompass:
Regular court and tribunal appearances as the advocate for Council across various regulatory matters including local laws, parking, and compliance offences.
Oversight and case management of prosecution and enforcement matters through the legal system.
Training development staff in investigation techniques and evidence presentation.
Providing expert advice on compliance and enforcement matters and developing related processes and procedures.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the community by ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations through meticulous legal prosecution and enforcement actions. What you'll need to succeed To excel in this role, you will need:
A law degree or relevant tertiary qualification, with a current Practicing Certificate as a Solicitor/Barrister.
Demonstrated experience in government enforcement and Magistrates' Court prosecutions.
In-depth knowledge of local government regulatory, investigation, and enforcement processes.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills.
Your personal qualities will include decisiveness, attention to detail, analytical ability, and a strong focus on teamwork and relationship building.
