Why Mental Health at Casey Hospital
Within our facility, we have the capacity for up to 5 High Dependency beds and an additional 5 designated beds for step-down, transitional care. This approach supports comprehensive discharge planning and community engagement before the eventual discharge of individuals. Consumers remain in the unit until they have reached a point in their recovery where effective and safe treatment in the community becomes viable. Our efforts are bolstered by a specialised multidisciplinary team, alongside comprehensive community mental health services, including Mental Health Hospital in the Home, and welfare support services. Working collaboratively, we offer a diverse range of therapeutic interventions and programs. These initiatives are not only available to consumers but also extend to their families, aiming to deepen their understanding of the impact of mental illness, explore effective management strategies, enhance coping mechanisms, and facilitate progress toward recovery.
A Day in the Life:
We’re now looking for Psychiatric Enrolled Nurses to join our high-performing team and help make a difference to the lives of people in our community.
Working with adult inpatient consumers with varying degrees of acute psychiatric or mental illness and/or drug and alcohol dependency problems, you’ll be a recognised member of the psychiatric care team and will work collaboratively with the broader multidisciplinary team. At any time you would be providing primary nursing care to patients in a case management model, while also supporting your colleagues in the nursing team. We have a number of permanent positions available and can accommodate both full time and part time working hours. All our nurses work across a seven-day rotating roster.
The key components of the role include:
  • Ensuring effective delivery of clinical services to consumers of the Mental Health Program, utilizing nursing skills, knowledge and expertise
  • Conducting full nursing assessments of patients including assessment of their physical status, clinical observations, metabolic status and any other concerns related to a patient’s medical and physical condition
  • Being dedicated to the delivery of high quality, person centred care in line with Monash Health’s iCARE values and key performance indicators
  • Working under the direct supervision of the Associate Nurse Manager and Registered Nurses within the team
We are privileged to have a dynamic work force that are dedicated to providing the best patient care, provide a sound learning environment that is friendly, professional, collaborative and culturally diverse.
