Cooktown District Community Centre (CDCC) is a not-for-profit organisation providing community services and supports to Cooktown, Hope Vale, Wujal Wujal and Laura including Financial Support, Social Support, Community Development, Parenting & Family Support, Family Support, Youth Engagement, Youth Alcohol and other drugs (AOD), Domestic & Family Violence Support, 60’s and Better Healthy Aging and Intensive Playgroup.

As a registered Charity, generous salary packaging applies. You can salary package up to $15,900 per year for general living expenses and packaging benefits relating to vehicles and entertainment expenses. This position is classified at level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care, and Disability Services Industry Award 2010; equal remuneration rates apply. Salary will be negotiated on qualifications and depth of experience with 11% superannuation as per the government superannuation guarantee.
The Role
Working 4 days per week or 30.4 hours across 5 days, the position provides casework and support services to community individuals who request material assistance and emergency relief and those who would benefit from more specialised assistance.
As a Financial Case Worker, you will be at the forefront of helping individuals navigate their financial challenges and achieve self-sufficiency. We seek someone who embodies kindness, compassion, firmness, and fairness. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Listening Actively: Engage with clients to understand their unique financial situations, ensuring you capture all necessary details to create effective case plans.
- Creating Actionable Plans: Translate client information into clear, actionable plans that address their specific financial needs and goals.
- Providing Support: Offer guidance and support without taking over, empowering clients to take control of their financial futures.
- Fostering Growth: Encourage clients to grow and improve their financial literacy and decision-making skills, promoting self-determination and independence.

Qualifications
- Diploma level or above in Community Services Work / Case Management or similar with previous experience in working with practices of casework framework within a social and community service operation in a rural/remote setting.
- Hands-on work experience in social, human, and community services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental attitude.
