Westug is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Purchasing and Stores Assistant for a Permanent full-time (38 FTE) role to work out of our Dampier and Cape Lambert Offices. The role will work closely with the Purchasing Officer, Tug Crews, Maintenance Staff and management to ensure efficient and effective delivery of our Port Services Contract with Rio Tinto.
This Full-time role will work a 9-day fortnight roster however those seeking part-time or flexible work arrangements are encouraged to apply.
This role is residential only. You must reside in the greater Karratha area or relocate if successful.
About the Role:
The Purchasing and Stores Assistant is responsible for maintaining and running warehouse facilities between the port operations of Dampier and Cape Lambert and supporting the purchasing officer function efficiently and effectively in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Some key accountabilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and run warehouse facilities efficiently and effectively in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain stock lists of equipment, consumables & critical spares.
- Supplier account setup, Freight preparation and bookings and receipt of goods including unloading of transport vehicles.
- Issue purchase orders in accordance with approved requisition and purchasing policy
- Collection and delivery of parts and consumables to the workplace where required.
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure contract obligations are met including monitoring orders and communicating status to relevant parties.
- Provide support/relief to the Purchasing officer and other ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Fork Lift ticket and a Heavy Rigid licence are highly desirable.
- C Class Driver’s License required.
- Experience in the storage and issuance of chemicals and associated safety requirements (e.g. storage requirements, compatibility and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills are essential.
- Experience in storekeeping procedures is essential.
