As a leader in the underground mining industry, they are poised to embark upon an exciting phase of evolution and have created a new opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join their team based in Tomago.
As the Purchasing Manager, you will manage a team responsible for day-to-day purchasing activities, manage data-driven insights to enhance decision-making, and collaborate closely with other departments to support production goals.
More about the role:
- Manage a team of purchasing professionals
- Write policies and procedures for the purchasing team
- Work closely with the Supply Chain, Inventory and Warehouse Manager to develop and execute a new purchasing strategy
- Analyse data related to supplier performance, market trends, and purchasing patterns to make informed decisions.
- Liaise with cross functional departments for project kick offs and attend daily production meetings to ensure material availability and resolve any conflicts
- Assist with day to day Purchasing activities & approve purchase orders.

- Proven experience in purchasing management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent analytical abilities and proficiency in using data-driven insights to drive decision-making.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ideally you have come across PowerBI and understand the power of the data it holds.
