Qualified Patent Attorney or Trainee - Brisbane

Michael Buck IP is a Brisbane based, independent firm of patent and trade marks attorneys. In addition to a rapidly growing international practice, the firm has a strong local client base, including leading companies and universities. 

Our firm is consistently amongst the top ten filers of both provisional patent applications and International (PCT) applications in Australia.

About You

We are seeking someone with a technical degree in engineering with a preference for a major in mechanical engineering. 

Prior experience working in industry is also particularly valuable in this role but not essential. 

Excellent written English and high-level technical communication skills are also necessary. 

While a registered Patent Attorney is preferred, motivated applicants that are new to the profession or partially qualified will be considered.

Trade mark experience is also highly valued but not essential. 

About the Role

The role includes meeting with inventors and business owners and assisting them to identify and protect valuable intellectual property. 

You will prepare patent specifications and organise the filing of patent applications in Australia and throughout the world. 

Our attorneys also represent overseas businesses and foreign associates and our registered attorneys travel extensively to build and maintain foreign business relationships.

Other facets of the role include contentious work including opposition work and the provision of enforcement and validity advice to clients.

This is a full-time position, based at our Brisbane offices in Queensland. Relocation costs and repayment of training fee obligations are available to the right candidate.
