About the role The Quality Manager will be responsible for the day to day quality management program with a mandate around quality excellence in line with a range of external standards and the internal QMS. Supported by a team of 3, core aspects of this full time role will include:
- The delivery and execution of quality initiatives and activities in line with wider business objectives
- Delivery of the internal and external auditing program
- Development of the wider QA and technical team to ensure ongoing opportunities and increased technical capability
- Manager of QMS / Food Safety Programs (SQF, HACCP) to ensure all compliance programs are met to the highest standards
- Internal & external third-party audits
- Customer audits/visits
- Stakeholders relations and non-conformance issues
- Day-to-day quality monitor
- Microbiological, metal, organoleptic (sensory) and other internal lab tests
- Conduct QA and Food Safety training
- Other projects as required (quality, environmental, packaging)
- Ensuring customer satisfaction levels are met.
- Ensuring products are suitable for export market requirements
About you This role would suit either a current supervisory level candidate looking to take their next professional step or an established QM who is looking to join a more agile business operations. Critical Skills and Experience Required
- previous experience in food processing and distribution.
- Knowledge of food science / related agricultural science/ safety or relevant industry experience and training (must include HACCP, SQF and GMP).
- Excellent leadership skills including conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Current state drivers’ licence.
- Excellent people and communication skills, both written and oral
- Knowledge of all processes within scope of the role.
- Ability to make quick and correct decisions “on the job” and long-term decisions.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to achieve departmental targets.
- Knowledge of all relevant guidelines.
- Experience in or knowledge of further processing and how it can impact on legal requirements in terms of food safety and quality risks
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, technology or related discipline plus 2 years’ experience or 5 years’ experience in the occupation.
- Current training and experience in SQF, CFSMR and HACCP
- Internal & External Auditing training and experience
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance within food manufacturing – labelling, allergens, NIPS, etc.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient computer and technological skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and excellent organisational skills
- High energy, self-driven and motivated.
