McLean Farms is a diversified family-owned agri-business based in Pittsworth, 30 minutes Southwest of Toowoomba. Specialising in livestock and food production, the business is involved with a broad range of agricultural enterprises such as grain, compost and feed mill operations. We are seeking a dedicated and detail orientated Quality Assurance Officer to join our team.
Position Overview
As Quality Assurance Officer, you will support and maintain our Quality Management System (QMS) and Food Safety Plans, ensuring compliance with food legislation and standards across our Grading and Packing Floor, as well as our Feedmill.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Quality Management System Support: Maintain and monitor the QMS at the Packing Floor and Feedmill. Provide support for QMS and Food Safety Plans in other areas as needed.
Document Control: Authorise and release controlled documents, review and update Quality and Food Safety Systems, and manage document control and records.
Recall Coordination: Coordinate potential recalls and conduct “mock recalls,” maintaining and testing product identification, traceability, and recall systems.
Audit and Compliance: Conduct internal audits, report non-conformances, assist in external audits, and support the site manager and auditor.
Corrective and Preventive Actions: Support corrective and preventive actions and assist in decision-making regarding non-conforming products.
Food Legislation and Standards: Ensure compliance with food legislation, follow relevant standards and codes of practice, and assist in developing food defence procedures and emergency preparedness.
Supplier and SOP Management: Maintain the Approved Suppliers List and work with site personnel on managing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Training and Continuous Improvement: Participate in Quality and Food Safety system reviews and assist in implementing continuous improvement actions.
Customer Complaints and Communication: Investigate and address customer complaints appropriately.
Qualifications & Competencies required:
- Proven knowledge and experience in HACCP.
- Internal Auditor certification.
- Micro for Non-Microbiologists training.
- Degree or diploma in Food Science is desired, but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
