The Opportunity

Kā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November 2020 between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with four design and construction companies - Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan.

The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial - Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, NZ Upgrade Programme - Queenstown Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network.

We require an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team, providing leadership and technical skills to manage the delivery of all quality objectives, and drive for continued excellence on the project.

The purpose of this role is to implement, verify, maintain and train others in the quality policies, systems and procedures. Achievement will ensure the Kā Huanui a Tāhuna Project is delivered at the highest standard throughout the full project lifecycle.

What you'll bring to the table

You have strong project-based technical skills and knowledge in the quality management space and excellent interpersonal and communication capabilities, allowing you to promote a quality culture across the project. Your ability to influence people and create a strong focus on quality will mean that work is completed to the right standard and quality the first time while ensuring that all business systems and processes are maintained. This role will see you work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing internal and subcontracted parties, with some interaction with the client.

The skills and experience required for this position are;

  • Tertiary qualified in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Desired 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer within a large-scale civil construction such as roading, rail and water on large infrastructure projects.
  • A track record in promoting a quality culture of best practice as well as practical developed skills in auditing, inspection, testing, risk assessment, quality assurance.
  • A broad knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements as well as project management system requirements.
  • Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA
  • Experience with implementation of corrective action programs
  • Good understanding of systems structure and electronic document management

This is a position that will provide a fantastic opportunity for the right person to really make their mark on this project.

This is a permanent, full time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
