Job Scope:
We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Inspector to join our team located in Pinkenba, QLD. In this role you will ensure that build milestones achieved within the Pinkenba Service Centre are completed to FLSmidth Standard Operating Procedures.
Job responsibilities:
- Inspect workshop jobs in progress for adherence to workmanship standards.
- In progress inspection of subcontracted job operations.
- Creation of inspection test plans and other quality control documents to support first time quality being achieved.
- Assist workshop teams when non-conformance arise.
- Coordination and maintaining the calibration register.
- Surveillance of works undertaken are compliant to required standards and specifications.
- Identify quality issues and assist in the facilitation of error proofing solutions.
- Facilitation of welder qualification testing and maintaining the register.
- Initiation of action plans to prevent re-occurrence of non-conformances.
- Implement a sampling plan for critical build components.
- Reporting to a manager and/or supervisor any Safety observations
- Embrace and support the FLSmidth ‘Safety & Quality First’ Culture ‘There is nothing we do that we can’t take the time to do safely and correctly’ and promoting FLSmidth safety policies and procedures.
- Work with the team to complete all work required on shift and exceed customer expectations.
- Conducting internal audits in accordance with the annual schedule.
- Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.
What you bring:
- Junior engineer or fitter/machinist trades qualification with a mechanical background including good knowledge of fabrication process.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in mechanical/fabrication industry in addition to experience within the established quality assurance system.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications to determine compliance.
- Effectively use a variety of measuring instruments such as vernier, micrometer, various in-house gauges.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in report writing.
- Ability to conduct internal Audits.
- Management and control of the non-conformance system specific to action plans for RCA and subsequent continual improvement.
- Research and development towards error-proofing of processes.
- Team player.
