Steel Mains is Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of complete steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater, offering a total solution approach to its customers.
We are looking for a Quality Coordinator to join our Quality team based in Kwinana, WA. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is integral to the quality output of our products, while maintaining systems to ensure conformance with site procedures, specifications, and drawings.
The succesful candidate must be able to complete 3-6 month training period at our Somerton facility in Melbourne.
This role may appeal to graduate Engineers looking for long term PR opportunities (open to applicants Australia-wide open to relocating to WA).
Key responsibilities include:
- Assume responsibilities of the Management Representative in accordance with AS/NZS 9001:2015 Quality management system
- Conduct audits and system / CAR reviews in accordance with the quality assurance procedures.
- Identify and report to the coordinator / manager any internal system or product non-conformance and any opportunities for quality improvement.
- Control and issue system procedures and controlled documents and ensure systems are adequate to meet requirements.
- Oversee site welding procedures, weld and welder qualifications.
- Daily monitoring of operations to ensure they meet production/quality standards
- Calibration of all measurement tools
- Inspect, test or measure materials or products being manufactured
- Implement and manage tracking system for pipes that require repairs and/or any scrap
- Working alongside production team to ensure repaired pipes get back online
- Overseeing Quality Product Testing
- Working with Leading Hands to complete various tests
- Compiling documentation to support testing
- Assisting with Material Data Reports (MDRs)
- Continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems
- Training shopfloor employees for quality related activities (testing/data collection/labelling)
- Labelling – printing labels for pipe traceability
- Ad hoc administrative tasks including scanning/archiving
The succesful candidate will have:
- Engineering or Science qualification, Trade or Technical background (highly desired).
- Confident user of MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
- Willingness to learn and think outside the box
- Proven ability to work autonomously, reliably and in a team environment
- Energic and enthusiastic attitude
- Flexible and hands on approach to all tasks at hand
Other desirables (not essential):
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Basic understanding of Material Science (i.e., Steel and/or Polymers)
- Knowledge of quality systems
- Have a passion for quality outcomes
