Quarry TraineeWork Type: Full Time Maximum Term 24 Months  Location: RegionalBusiness Unit: Natural ResourcesAward & Salary:  Local Government Apprentice/Wage Conditions $44,571.30 - $58,991.43 p.a + superannuation  

Central Highlands Regional Council is searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and confident trainee to join our Natural Resources team. This is an opportunity to gain full time, paid work whilst working towards a Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations. As a trainee you’ll be exposed to a range of tasks and opportunities to develop practical skills in the workplace and through a formal training process. To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess: 

  • A growth mindset and passion for learning with the ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification (Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations) within 24 months 
  • Sound written and oral communication skills  
  • Effective verbal communication skills  
  • A professional attitude 
  • A good work ethic including reliability and punctuality  
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to be self-motivated 
  • An interest in working outdoors and operating specialised machinery
  • A willingness to work hard and stay in a camp environment outside of Emerald
  • Minimum entry age of 17 years and over
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers’ licence 
  • A General Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain)

To be eligible for this traineeship you must:  

  • Be at least 17 years of age; 
  • Be able to meet the citizen, residency, and Visa requirements to undertake a traineeship; and 
  • Not hold a qualification that is equal to or higher than the qualification in the same field as your traineeship.
