Job description

The Queensland Government Agent Program (QGAP) is a government initiative designed to provide rural communities with equitable access to public sector services. The Queensland Police Service has accepted the role of lead Department for the provision of QGAP services through police stations at a number of locations. This will enable rural communities to receive services that otherwise could not be justified financially. The program has been initiated after extensive local community consultation and communities will be involved in evaluating the program.

The occupant of the position will act as the Queensland Government Agent at the above location and provide services for agencies the Queensland Police Service has agreed to represent.

The occupant of the position will promote specified services within the local community with a view to stimulating demand and will provide information about programs conducted across the whole of State Government.

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Ensure that the lead agency's obligations with regard to service agreements are complied with and that high standards of client satisfaction are achieved.
  • Provide support and ensure public enquiries about State Government services, requests for information are undertaken efficiently, and that all relevant administrative procedures are complied with, particularly those concerning the collection of monies.
  • Provide timely QGAP services and ensure they are actively promoted within the community.
  • Maintain records of the value and volume of services provided and produce regular written reports on services provided and other matters relating to the operation and evaluation of the project.
  • Ensure that all confidential matters and monies collected are treated with due regard for confidentiality and security, and that all auditing requirements are complied with.
  • Maintain and update records and complete various data retrieval support functions.
  • Contribute positively within a team environment.
  • Liaise with a range of police personnel, emergency service providers, and other government and non-government stakeholders.
  • Exercise the powers of a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
  • Perform duties on behalf of the Queensland Police Service as the lead Department, and for other Departments and Agencies that have entered into a service agreement with the Queensland Government Agent Program, through CountryNet.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
