We're seeking a Queensland state reporter who will report on Queensland news, politics and current affairs for Guardian Australia's national audience
In this role you will…
- Write news stories and features on Queensland issues – including, but not exclusively, state politics
- Break exclusive stories that set the Queensland news agenda
- Cover unfolding news stories quickly, accurately and innovatively
- Develop deep contacts in key story areas to further Guardian Australia's Queensland coverage
- Explain, analyse and bring context to Queensland stories for Guardian Australia's national audience
- Contribute to Guardian Australia's varied coverage formats, including multimedia
You'll bring….
Knowledge and experience
- Experience of working in a fast-changing and high-pressure news environment, preferably on a news website
- Proven history of breaking news
- A strong network of contacts in Queensland
- Experience writing both news and feature stories
- Deep knowledge and understanding of Queensland news and current affairs
- Experience of reporting on Queensland state politics would be an advantage
- Good understanding of media law
- An interest in a specialist story area or areas could be an advantage, particularly if not currently covered in depth by Guardian Australia
