Recreation Officer – Community

Northern/Western Melbourne Regions (VIC)

Casual Basis

  • Work with a rapidly growing not for profit organisation committed to social justice
  • Competitive base rate: $26.46-$30.46 per hour (dependent on qualifications) + 25% casual loading

Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality care, housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.

Your new role

We are looking for passionate candidates who are seeking casual employment in the community in the Western and Northern regions of Victoria. In this role you will assist the Recreation Co-ordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client in the assigned community regions. You can opt to service Northern regions, Western Regions or both depending on your location and availability.

Your responsibilities and duties will also include:

  • Establish and facilitate a leisure/lifestyle plan in collaboration with Individual clients.
  • Develop and facilitate recreational programs and social events.
  • Develop networks with community groups and local supports to assist in client engagement with the wider community.
  • Facilitate events that promote access to venues, events, and recreational opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively and be involved in regular meetings with key stakeholders and the multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A relevant qualification in Leisure and Lifestyle.
  • Experience working with people who are at risk or experienced homelessness.
  • Current drivers’ licence (mandatory)
  • Working reliable vehicle (mandatory)
  • An understanding of complex clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Well-developed communications skills and the ability to engage people from varying backgrounds.
  • First Aid Certificate.

Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Wintringham Health and Immunisation policy including having three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine before commencing employment and must provide evidence.
