About the role:
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Recreational Activities Officer to join our team at Loreto Home of Compassion. This is a rewarding role for a person interested in working in partnership with older people, helping to engage and enrich their daily lives. You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Tailoring programs to meet our individual residents’ interests, considering their cultural and spiritual preferences,
- Providing our residents with quality care, encouraging and supporting them to maintain their mobility, passions and skills,
- Facilitating individual as well as group activities,
- Evaluating programs on a regular basis, including opportunities for improvements,
- Documenting individuals’ assessments and care plans, and
- Developing programs for our general aged population as well as those with memory support needs.
About you:
We believe our clients deserve extraordinary support and care. While industry qualifications are important, we also look for the right person with the right values to fit our team. We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in the aged care industry,
- Can communicate effectively with residents, family members and staff,
- Brings a sense of joy and fun when interacting with older people,
- Holds a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or is willing to obtain this qualification, and
- Ideally has previous experience working in aged care or the health sector.

The Forrest Centre is founded on spiritual support and personal connection, we are a Riverina-based aged care provider. With almost 40 years of experience, we are a registered charity dedicated to ensuring elderly people in the region receive the care they deserve. Our services include at-home care for around 300 clients through Forrest Community Services, as well as residential aged care at Loreto Home of Compassion (76 residents), Mary Potter Nursing Home (70 residents), and The Forrest Centre Hospice (10 residents). Our team of approximately 250 staff share a commitment to respectful, compassionate, and people-centered care.
