We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Refridgeration Mechanicto join their team in Kilcoy - a place where you can grow your skill set in a fast paced, professionally run processing environment.

Job Summary:

The Refrigeration Mechanic will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems at our abattoir facility. This role ensures that all refrigeration equipment operates efficiently and complies with safety standards to maintain the quality and safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and Commissioning:

   • Install new refrigeration units and systems.
   • Ensure proper functioning of installed equipment through testing and commissioning.

2. Maintenance and Repair:

   • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all refrigeration systems.
   • Diagnose and repair faults in refrigeration equipment.
   • Replace worn or defective parts to ensure optimal performance.

3. Compliance and Safety:

   • Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
   • Maintain records of maintenance and repairs as per industry standards.
   • Ensure all equipment complies with environmental and safety standards.

4. Operational Efficiency:

   • Monitor the performance of refrigeration systems to ensure efficient operation.
   • Implement improvements to enhance system efficiency and reduce downtime.
   • Provide technical support and training to other staff as needed.

5. Emergency Response:

   • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and perform necessary repairs.
   • Be on-call for emergency maintenance as required.

6. Inventory Management:

   • Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repair.
   • Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of necessary parts.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification or diploma in refrigeration technology or a related field.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a refrigeration mechanic, preferably in a food processing or abattoir environment.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly desirable.

• Skills:

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid refrigeration mechanic license.
  • EPA certification for handling refrigerants (if applicable).
  • Forklift License (desirable)
  • Successful applicant will be required to undergo Q Fever vaccination.

HOURS of WORK: 6am to 6pm 5 days on, 4 days off.
