The Regional Bus Data Specialist role is to prepare, validate and implement the topology and timetable information in the DTP's internal systems to support rollout of ticketing and vehicle tracking in Regional Victoria. This role requires stakeholder engagement with Bus Operators, DTP commercial managers, Fares Policy and Ticketing.
This role is responsible for the validation, creation and maintenance of the spatial representation of every unique path of travel undertaken by public transport services in Regional Victoria. This includes the management of stop location data, route information, geospatial and timetable information to be used by DTP, customers and the transport industry. This is achieved through engagement with multiple teams within DTP, bus operators and industry expertise.
Position Outcomes
We are seeking individuals passionate about ensuring the accuracy of public transport information and excelling in a collaborative work environment to join us as Timetable and Data Management Specialists. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of bus stop information, geospatial data, and timetables within our DTP databases. From reviewing and updating bus stop details to ensuring consistency across various platforms, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring reliable public transport services.
Your responsibilities will extend to overseeing the import and export process of data, guaranteeing that high-quality information is readily available for operational and customer needs. Anticipating and managing network service changes will also be part of your duties, ensuring all data requirements are met prior to implementation. Collaboration is key in this role, as you'll work closely with internal teams, operators, and external agencies to ensure accurate data provision and address any challenges that arise.
In addition, you'll be involved in creating comprehensive timetable spreadsheets and preparing detailed maps to accurately depict stop locations and travel paths for each route line and deviation. Engaging with operators and relevant stakeholders to incorporate feedback and update schedules, stop details, and route information will also be central to your role. Qualifications and Experience
Desirable
- Qualification in, Data Management and/or Spatial Sciences or GIS
- Knowledge of the Victorian public transport network including routes, approximate spans and frequencies.
- Understanding of bus operations and how bus timetable, geospatial and scheduling data reflect bus operations.
- Experience with public transport timetable scheduling software and systems (e.g. Austrics, Hastus, DIVA4).
