About the Role
Assist the Snr Commercial & Risk Manager in undertaking contract and tender reviews and providing advice to senior management and Project teams on matters relating to commercial opportunities and risks associated with multiple projects within one or more regions of the Business Unit (BU) to ensure sustainable financial success of the BU.
Some responsibilities of the role include;
- Assist the Snr Commercial & Risk Manager with the development and implementation of commercial strategies, initiatives, policies and processes.
- Provide advice and guidance to project teams and senior management on matters relating to commercial risks and opportunities to ensure sustainable financial and operational success of the BU.
- Assist with the identification, development and implementation of training programs to ensure commercial acumen at all levels of the BU.
- Assist with the development and facilitation of management reports to senior management against key measures and indicators.
- Review Tender contractual provisions and prepare draft Contract Risk Assessment
- Assist bid team with the preparation of TSAs and CSAs, Subcontracts and Supply documents as required by the bid team / senior management.
- Prepare draft contractual qualifications in consultation with key members of bid team/senior management (including RFls to try and negate/reduce the need for qualifications) in line with corporate guidelines.
- Support and advise project teams on commercial and contractual matters as part of Project Launch for all new projects.
- Assist and support in the development of project specific back-to-back special conditions of contract including preparation of standard suite of notice and claim templates for sound commercial administration.
- Undertake project commercial audits to check on conformance with good contract admin practices and compliance with JH Procedures, Contract, legislation and SOPA etc.
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.
What we are looking for;
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Building, Engineering, Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or other associated disciplines
- 10 - 15 years of relevant commercial experience in commercial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects.
- Contractual management of a variety of project values and complexities
- Negotiation of contractual terms, variations and progress claims
- Contractual management of design providers
- Demonstrated application of Corporate Limits of Liabilities and contractual and commercial systems, processes and procedures
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and exposure to a contract management system.
