This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate.

Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.

A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity

We're enthusiastic to announce a rewarding opportunity in our Central Australian Regional team. This is your chance to collaborate with communities across the vibrant and diverse Central Australian Region (CAR) in the Northern Territory. As a Regional Corporate Support Officer, you'll have the unique opportunity to work alongside regional teams and provide support to the office of the Regional Manager of CAR and you'll drive outcomes that align with the critical work in Central Australia. What does it look like? Stepping into Central Australia – a land of stunning natural beauty and ancient cultures that many Australians dream of experiencing. Here, you'll work alongside First Nations Peoples, who continue to maintain their ancient connection to country and share their rich culture and language. This immediate position is based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an ideal candidate who has the ability to:

  • you will contribute to a culture that aligns with NIAA values and behaviours, working with dedicated teams to achieving quality program outcomes
  • provide leadership and deliver on priorities to achieve branch outcomes and the NIAA's broader strategic directions for its stakeholders, providers and partners
  • plan and coordinate team workflow to ensure even distribution and management of priorities Undertake planning and implementation of small scale projects for the team or branch within the office of the Regional Manager
  • work with the leadership team across the branch to draft and execute ministerial documents, ensuring that timeframes are met to a high standard and quality assurance of draft documents prior to the progression to senior management
  • effectively monitor and report on team and project performance and workload. Implement remedial action as required to ensure performance indicators are met and quality is maintained
  • provide support to the Regional Manager through high-level executive support, ensuring that deadlines are met and the operational functions of the office are running smoothly
  • undertake reviews using internal quality assurance and continuous improvement processes. Identify opportunities to enhance team and branch performance in an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and change. Work with branch leadership when implementing changes, using Agency continuous improvement practices.

This position is required to liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers. You will require cultural competency, including:

  • understanding of the matters impacting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • demonstrated capability and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency.

To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.

The successful candidate will be required to be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check.
