The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller with a background across accounting and finance functions in the manufacturing or mining industries. Based in Forrestdale, WA, this senior leadership position partners with eight legal entities in the Australasian region to provide best practice financial management. This permanent, full time role is available immediately. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the CFO, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership and mentoring for all financial service teams in the Australian group and responsible for timely and accurate delivery of all financial reporting,
  • Ensuring Australian regulatory compliance and Hitachi Group internal compliance requirements are met, 
  • Acting as Financial Business Partner to the EVP & General Manager, Australia, providing expert advice and guidance, 
  • Participating as a member of the Australian Executive Leadership team, contributing to strategic direction, 
  • Managing six (6) direct reports and overseeing the management of fourteen (14) downlines, 
  • Reviewing financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc financial reporting, identifying and addressing any issues,
  • Coordinating internal and external audit activities, including addressing any issues identified, implementing process improvements and controls, and drafting financial statement,
  • Preparing, coordinating and lodging consolidated income tax returns for all entities in Australia, Zambia and China, including liaison with and instruction to external tax consultants, and guidance to teams in the preparation of local monthly tax reporting requirements,
  • Financing, treasury and cash management, including monthly cash flow oversight, managing foreign currency exchange dealer facilities, overseeing changes of signatories, opening/closing accounts, issuing and cancelling credit cards, and authorising electronic payments across the group,
  • Coordinating preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the Australia group, 
  • Coordinating quarterly business reviews and annual shared services reviews,
  • Reviewing and authorising payroll, as required, and preparing bonus incentive scheme schedules and payments,
  • Managing the Australian group’s insurance policy portfolio and lease register,
  • Approving purchase orders, credit notes, stock adjustments, CAPEX, credit applications, bank payments, etc
  • Coordinating with the ERP team to implement process changes, set policies and procedures, and introduce new companies or business lines to Pronto. 

About You

To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a role with a similar sized company, in the manufacturing or mining industries,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or Finance,
  • Current CPA membership is desirable but not essential,
  • Knowledge and experience in accounting standards and principles, statutory and taxation requirements,
  • Demonstrated leadership skills,
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, 
  • Proficiency in Pronto is preferred, but not essential,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
