Central and Eastern Sydney PHN (CESPHN) is a not-for-profit regionally based primary health care organisation. The Mental Health Regional Planning Project Officer is responsible for the delivery of the Implementation of the CES Regional Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Plan.

Reporting to the Mental Health Manager, this role will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including the Regional Plan Implementation Committee and Working Parties, to support the implementation of the CES Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan. This role will provide project coordination, secretariat and reporting support to the governance structures of the Regional Plan Implementation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
    • Undertake, manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously as described in the Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan and associated Implementation Plan 
    • Support the development of collaborative and constructive relationships with consumers, carers and other stakeholders to support a consumer-focused approach to the implementation of the plan, 
    • Organise and support the Regional Plan Implementation Committee including sub-committees and working parties. 
    • Contribute to and coordinate regular monitoring and review of the Regional Plan 
    • Undertake literature reviews, basic research and analysis and prepare reports related to the Regional Plan and its implementation,
    • Assist with the development of regional needs assessments and activity plans in conjunction with the Planning, Strategy and Evaluation team and CESPHN Executive
    • Support the collection of data to inform the evaluation processes,
    • Implement planned and approved activities undertaken within the disciplines of project management principles and ensure they are delivered on time and within budget. 
  • Secretariat: 
    • Organise and support the Regional Plan Implementation Committee, sub-committees and working parties, including coordinating meetings and developing agendas, working papers and minutes,
    • Liaise with the chairs of each committee and working group.
    • Prepare reports as necessary, highlighting identified areas for improvement and key trends,
    • Participate in internal and external meetings and sector events, delivering formal and informal presentations, chairing and minuting as required,
    • Undertake quality improvement practices in accordance with best practice and appropriate accreditation standards,
    • Assist with continuing professional development (CPD) events for the mental health sector, 
    • Support contract management with service providers,
    • Perform other duties commensurate with skills and experience as directed.

Selection criteria – essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field as well as relevant experience in mental health and suicide prevention and project management.
  • Sound organisational skills with proven ability to work autonomously as well as a member of a high performing team.
  • Proven high level written, verbal and electronic communication skills, and ability to successfully manage communications across a decentralised organisation.
  • Understanding of the Australian Mental Health System including current national and state reforms and plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with lived experience representatives and a commitment to co-design approaches in health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage a wide range of stakeholders including the Local Health Districts, non-government organisations, community organisations, universities, clinicians, and the public; and
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office based computing applications e.g. Excel, Word, Database, Power Point, Client Information Management Systems, SharePoint, Outlook etc.

Selection criteria - desirable

  • An understanding of the primary health care environment and experience in communicating with health care professionals and consumers within CESPHN boundaries.
