Package: $104,796.95 - $115,676.22 + 11% Super (Grade 12 of the SMRC Salary System 2022-2023) **Market allowance up to $25,000 per annum in addition to salary listed** (leaseback vehicle available)

About the Role: Organise the day-to-day work of the Strategic Planning team and support team members to undertake their work efficiently, effectively and safely.

• Monitor and report on individual and the team’s work performance and progress towards the delivery of work plan goals
• Use resources efficiently, effectively and responsibly to complete tasks that either contribute to or directly deliver services
• Direct the day-to-day activities of the Strategic Planning team that contribute to, or directly deliver services
• Guide the Strategic Planning team’s contribution and performance to facilitate improvements to service quality, accessibility and responsiveness
• Maintain adopted policies, procedures, processes and systems of work, and hold Team Leaders and team members accountable to apply them when carrying out their work
• Model and reinforce cross-functional collaboration through information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision making, enhance capability and optimise capacity
• Model and reinforce an agile, solutions-focused, accountable and collaborative culture that facilitates workforce engagement, empowerment and performance
• Inform, educate and guide employees about their WHS responsibility to maintain a safe workplace

About You: 

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you will have:

• Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role; or substantial contemporary experience in a similar role, coupled with ongoing professional development to support contemporary knowledge.
• Experience in the preparation of Strategic Land use planning projects, Land use planning controls, and Developer Contribution Planning.
• Experience managing and leading a team of employees.
• Sound negotiation and highly developed communication skills and experience in community engagement.
• A high degree of self-motivation, initiative and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proven track record in leading, supervising and motivating a team with a commitment to a high standard of performance.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.

Desirable criteria:

• Local Government experience in Strategic Planning
• Local Government experience in Recreational Planning
• Local Government experience in Community Development Planning
• Experience in Floodplain Risk Management
• Related qualifications in Local Government Management
• Experience in developing LEP's
• Experience in assessing Planning Proposals and liaising with developers and proponents
