Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner

Full or Part Time position available with flexible hours – negotiate the hours that suit you: 2 days per week (0.4FTE) to full time

About Guiding Pathways

Guiding Pathways is a team of Allied Health professionals, primarily Psychologists and Developmental Educators, offering diagnosis and on-going therapy for children and teenagers with neurodevelopmental, learning, social, language, mental health or behaviour difficulties.

We work with a diverse range of children and adolescents with a large range of presenting concerns including ASD, Intellectual Disability, ADHD, anxiety, depression, social problems, trauma, development delay and more. We are NDIS registered (Therapeutic Supports, Early Intervention Supports for Early Childhood, and Specialist Positive Behaviour Support) as well as seeing Medicare and private clients.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate PBS practitioner to join our team. The role will be offered as a permanent position, part-time to full-time to suit the candidate. The successful candidate will work with clients and their families/support network to develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans for children and teenagers while also delivering therapeutic supports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the child’s support networks and relevant stakeholders, providing support to assist children in the development of daily living and functional life skills and increase their resilience and coping skills
  • Conduct and document functional behaviour assessments and provide regular feedback to stakeholders about progress
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate positive Behaviour Support plans with strategies and interventions and provide training, clinical advice, and coaching to staff to support clients in achieving personal goals and positive outcomes
  • Provide on-going therapeutic support and training to the child and their support network to assist with managing challenging behaviours and improving integration into family, school and community environments
  • Use the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission portal to manage PBSP requirements
  • Review and work to reduce restrictive practices in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission guidelines
  • Fulfill clinical administrative requirements, including record keeping
  • Contribute to positive workplace safety and quality policies and practices

Position Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of SA Restrictive Practices Scheme and relevant SACAT requirements
  • Adhere to NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements including following the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report preparation
  • Ability to work with individuals, families, and support services, maintain accurate records and reports, prioritise work and meet legislative timeframes
  • Utilise data tools for behavioural analysis and functional assessments and develop, implement, and review Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Ability to work within Guiding Pathways clinic location and travel to various client locations
  • Work rights for Australia
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance as a NDIS PBS practitioner
  • Desire to work with children, adolescents and their families/support networks
  • Passion to provide client-centered services
  • Full driver’s license

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualifications related to Positive Behaviour Support E.g. Psychology, Social Work, Developmental Educator, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist or relevant field as deemed by the NDIS Quality and Safety Commission
  • Full registration with the relevant membership body (DEAI, AHPRA, or SPA) and meet the requirements of membership
  • Registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Current Working With Children Check (or eligible for)
  • NDIS Worker Check (or eligible for)
  • Child Safe Environment Training (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care -RRHAN-EC or Through Their Eyes) (or eligible for)

  • Company-provided work vehicle for employees engaged 0.8FTE or more. Part time employees of less than 0.8FTE will be paid a motor vehicle allowance of $0.96/km to cover all vehicle running costs
  • Attractive salary, open to negotiation dependent on experience, plus super
