About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) provides pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatal care to over 750 high and low risk pregnancies per annum. The Maternity Unit has 4 Birthing Suites, 12 Antenatal and Postnatal rooms and 6 Special Care Nursery cots and offers a comprehensive range of services to support women and their families.

In the role of Registered Midwife you will plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard of midwifery care to achieve desired clinical outcomes. Simultaneously recognising the needs and acknowledging the culture, values and dignity of all patients and their families. You will empower all people and their families within a service that embraces both continuity of philosophy and consistency of advice and information. You will provide direct patient care through a consumer centred approach and within scope of practice.

This position is permanent part time (up to 64 hours per fortnight).

• Increase autonomy with your work as a Midwife at SWH, ability to increase your clinical skills in performing ARMs, attaching FSE and IV cannulation;
• We have 3 days a week of clinical support and education and training, allowing for clinical support for your practise and ensuring you are up to date with education and training;
• Ability to work across your scope of practise;
• All care is based on evidence based guidelines;

• SWH is a training hospital for Medical and Midwifery Staff which in turn, maintains a standard of care;
• There is an ability to apply for your Clinical Midwifery Specialist qualification, once eligible and meet the requirements for this.

What you bring

• The successful applicant must be able to work across the scope of the midwifery practice, which includes birthing suite, antenatal, postnatal and special care nurseries.
• A demonstrated competency in clinical practice and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential for this role.
• Evidence of commitment to ongoing education and professional development will be highly regarded.
• Applicants must have registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife and hold relevant post graduate qualifications.

Employment Terms and Conditions will be in line with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024 with the appropriate classification of Registered Nurse Grade 2 $69,253.60 - $95378.40 per annum pro rata.
