About the Role:
As a Registered Nurse/ Enrolled Nurse in our Disability Support Services, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic care and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their health, wellbeing, and rights are upheld according to regulatory standards. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility, empathy, and a proactive approach to achieving individualized goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and apply principles of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in delivering care.
- Adhere to Scope of Practice, Policies and Procedures, and all relevant Legislative, Regulatory, and Legal Requirements, including the Human Rights Act 1986 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, and regularly review the health and wellbeing of individuals, encompassing clinical interventions and support services.
- Foster independence, skill development, and decision-making capabilities in alignment with individual goals.
- Collaborate with management, reporting on service provision and participating in team initiatives.
- Provide personalized support services based on individual needs and rostering requirements, which may include varied shifts and tasks.
- Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and proactive problem-solving in adapting to evolving needs and learning new responsibilities.
- Prioritize the dignity and autonomy of individuals, promoting social awareness and inclusion.
- Actively engage in goal setting, program planning, and implementation, offering both physical assistance and emotional support as required.
- Administer medications, document care interventions, and contribute to Positive Behavior Support strategies.
- Interpret diagnostic tests and reports, ensuring informed decision-making in care planning.
- Encourage individual choice, participation, and decision-making while upholding rights, dignity, privacy, and security.
- Assess and manage risks versus duty of care, fostering self-confidence and self-image.
- Collaborate with external providers as necessary and maintain accurate records and reports of care provision.
- Participate in training, development programs, and performance reviews to enhance skills and meet operational requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with AHPRA regulatory body.
- Understanding of NDIS principles and disability support frameworks.
- Experience in Pediatric nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Strong adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in healthcare.
- Excellent assessment, planning, and implementation skills in clinical care.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
- Capacity for flexibility, resilience, and proactive problem-solving.
- Commitment to person-centered care, social awareness, and advocacy.
- Ability to manage physical demands of the role and adapt to changing environments.
- Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing learning and professional development.
- Working knowledge of DVA and Community Services (Desirable)
