What you'll be doing
Practice and promote safe, efficient, and effective nursing care that reflects current standards of nursing practices, policies and procedures and fulfil the Directorates responsibility to deliver an efficient and safe School Based Vaccination Program.
This role may be called upon as required by the Public Health Unit to deliver immunisation and other public health interventions in various settings, in times of an emergency response.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

- Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with APRHA and Accredited Authorised Nurse Immuniser in NSW as demonstrated by the fulfillment under the Authority for Registered Nurses and midwives (including COVID-19 vaccine), or nurses working towards obtaining certification will be considered, and are able to commence working in the role once Authorised.
- Demonstrated ability to apply professional and ethical boundaries and to share professional expertise to enhance service delivery when working within the school environment.
- Proven clinical problem-solving and conflict management skills to maximise patient care.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication using information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and knowledge of current immunisation practices and issues.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate patient care within a team environment to achieve outcome-based care.
- Understanding of the management of students with complex needs who require vaccination in the community setting.
- Unrestricted NSW Driver’s License and the ability to travel for work.
