Norwest Private Hospital is in the rapidly developing North West corridor of Sydney and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. The hospital has 277 beds and is a high acuity facility with an Emergency Department located in Sydney's Bella Vista.
The Role
An exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Educator at Norwest Private Emergency Department for a passionate, motivated and experienced Critical Care Nurse. This position will report to and work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Hospital Education and Quality teams.
The successful candidate will be capable of using advanced clinical skills, proven teaching methods and superior communication skills to drive improvement in nurse education and evidence based practice. They will be expected to show initiative and flexibility in their approach to the role, with a high regard for professional and clinical standards. Demonstrated experience and success in preceptorship and other teaching roles will be highly regarded.
As a Clinical Nurse Educator your responsibilities will include:
- Working with the NUM and Clinical Development Coordinator to support our commitment to high level education and training.
- Orientate and complete induction of new staff, including roles and responsibilities.
- Take on a leadership role in providing hands on educational support and clinical teaching to ED team, graduate nurses and nursing students.
- Assist with competency assessments, learning plans and in-service programs.
- Promote a high standard of evidence based nursing care to all patients, through dissemination of current best practice knowledge.
- Ensure staff compliance to Mandatory Training requirements and completion of eLearning components.
- Participate in policy and procedure development, delivery and maintenance.
The CNE will be required to work as part of the 'Norwest Education Team' by participating in and supporting Hospital Wide Education and Quality programs for current and new staff.
Essential Criteria:
- Current AHPRA registration- Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in Emergency Nursing
- Experience teaching and supervising students and novice nurses
- Post Graduate Certificate in Nursing - relevant to experience
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous Clinical Educator experience
- Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE)/Working towards
