Access theAbout us:The Emergency Department is a dynamic workplace which treats both Adult and Paediatric populations. It is made up of 17 acute patient treatment areas, 3 resuscitation bays, triage, and Queensland Ambulance Service assessment areas, and a Fast-Track area which treats less acute presentations. The Emergency Department also manages a 12-bed Short Stay Unit.The department sees an average of 140 patients per 24-hour period, managing a vast range of clinical presentations, and works with patients from culturally diverse backgrounds. As a result of being a referral hospital for Central Queensland, the Emergency Department sees a large amount of critically unwell and trauma cases and works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor's Service (RFDS).About the role:
- Practise independently and interdependently to provide professional nursing services.
- Deliver a high standard of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation by using clinical nursing expertise.
- Respond appropriately to sudden alterations in the health status of the patient using comprehensive nursing assessment and intervention skills.
- Integrate nursing and health care knowledge, skills, and attitude specific to interdisciplinary learning by supporting a learning environment and participating in learning activities/opportunities.
- Take and provide direction in developing pathways of care to improve patient outcomes.
- Practice in accordance with any applicable code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within the scope of the position.
- Mandatory qualification: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
- Interpersonal and communication skills that support competent health care practice, delegation and supervision of Enrolled Nurses and Students in Nursing.
- Demonstration in the provision of safe, evidence based, client focused care within the Emergency Department setting.
- Demonstrated ability to recognise and respond to the deteriorating patient within the Emergency Department setting.
- A hourly rate between $40.51 - $51.97 p.h.
