The Role:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to work with patients participating in Clinical Trials. The role involves providing high quality care to patients to support their physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs. You will be expected to assist with collecting biological samples, administering study medication, monitoring vital signs and ECGs and be a resource for trial participants providing assistance with their medications and with their management of adverse events. You will support staff and patients with education regarding the trials and the medications under investigation. You will be an integral part of clinical trial teams which include clinicians, study coordinators, pharmacists, lab technicians and radiologists.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide clinical support such as collecting biological samples, administering study medication (oral and by injection or infusion), monitoring vital signs, conducting ECGs and providing assistance to trial participants with medications and adverse event management.
- Provide high quality care to participants in Clinical Trials including attention to their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as communicating with their support people.
- Communicate clinical trial processes and results with participants with empathy and accuracy.
- Resolve and/or appropriately escalate participant issues in a confidential and sensitive manner that respects patient privacy.
- Mentor and support Clinical Trial Coordinators with patient care.
About you:
You will be a passionate and empathetic individual with a strong focus on patient care. You will be a currently Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of hospital based patient care ideally in oncology, and ideally you will have Clinical Trials experience. You will have a track record of excellence as a team player and as someone with initiative. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have excellent time management skills.

To Apply
To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1-2 page cover letter:
- Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with at least 3 years experience
- Previous experience in oncology and / or Clinical Trials is desirable. Please specify the therapeutic area, the level of patient interaction and summarise the responsibilities you had in the relevant roles you have had.
- Experience of venepuncture, and cannulation and administering medications including intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
- Experience developing and providing patient education
- Highly developed customer service and ability to work independently with excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
