SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services consistent with SESLHD and The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services policies, procedures and standards.Where you'll be working:The Neonatal, Child & Adolescent Service consists of a level 4, 10 Bed Child & Adolescent Unit, Known as Gurung (with the Capacity to SURGE to 18 beds), and a level 3, 4 bed Special Care Nursery.The Neonatal, Child & Adolescent Service at The Sutherland Hospital cares for children and their families 0-16 years. Newborns and children presenting with a variety of acute/chronic illnesses and conditions are cared for within the service. Infants and children may present with common paediatric illnesses along with general surgical, orthopaedic, gastroenterology, respiratory or neurology conditions. Patients are cared for by Paediatricians and/or specialist physicians and surgeons. The service offers a Child Acute Review Service (CARS) for patients and families for continuity of care in the community. The service also offers a Hospital School with designated teaching staff employed by the Department of Education. The Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Service promote the principles of the Breast Friendly Health Initiative and The Sutherland Hospital is a BFHI accredited facility.Our Hospital and Community:The Sutherland Hospital is a 375-bed, major metropolitan hospital and an associated teaching hospital of the University of NSW. - Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
- Demonstrated recent post registration experience in a Pediatrics and/or Neonatal setting.
