The Sutherland Hospital is now recruiting to Perioperative Services - Anaesthetics & PACU.
Now is an exciting time to join The Sutherland Hospital, with our $81.5 million expansion nearing completion, we are offering:
- 8 Operating Theatres
- 2 endoscopy procedure rooms with digitally integrated operating systems
- Hybrid operating theatre for the facilitation of interventional radiology, vascular and gastroenterology procedures
- New 18 bed post anaesthetic care unit
- New 36 bed Surgical Short Stay Unit to facilitate admission and discharge for the high-volume short stay patients
- New staff amenities & activity based working space for nursing and medical staff
- New Central Sterilising Services Department

The Role
Our new Operating Theatre complex needs experienced Registered Nurses for permanent full time, part-time or temporary roles.
You will be an integral member of the clinical team and provide a high level of clinical and professional support to other members of the multi-disciplinary patient care team. Surgeries performed included General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Endoscopy, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Ear, Nose and Throat, Ophthalmology, Vascular, Paediatrics. We are a 24-hour service performing elective and emergency surgery between 0830hrs and 1800hrs and emergency surgery only from 1800hrs until 0830hrs.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services consistent with SESLHD and The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services policies, procedures and standards.
Selection Criteria: * Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
- Demonstrated recent post registration experience in PACU / Anaesthetics.
- Up to 12 allocated days off each year (for full-time employees)
