About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is excited to be looking for a Registered Nurse to join our newly established Subacute ward. This is a permanent position, and we are open to bringing in an RN who is looking for 0.8 – Full-Time.
Ward 9B is combination of Subacute (Rehabilitation and GEM - Geriatric Evaluation and Management) and Non-Acute (Nursing Home Type Patients) patients and will soon to be transitioning to include Gastroenterology patients as a sub speciality to complete a 26-bed ward. However, most of the patients will remain Geriatric – Acute and Sub Acute. The 9B Nursing team work closely with the Geriatric Medical Team including full time Geriatrician and specialised Allied Health Team focusing on restoration of physical and cognitive functioning or prevention of further functional decline with view to determining discharge destination and improved outcomes for older people.
Ability to work a rotating roster including, mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends is required for this position.
Salary range: $40.27 - $51.74 (RN level 1) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900.
What you’ll be doing
You will provide restorative, and rehabilitation focused services and care to the community following a medical or surgical hospitalisation. Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:
- Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
- Working with and supporting colleagues within a highly effective skilled team environment
- Demonstrating clinical skills and knowledge in the care of surgical patients
About you
To be successful in your application, you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Proven clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of nursing care
- Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care and outcomes
- Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
- Demonstrates a collaborative and engaging approach to teamwork and the ability to work within the multi-disciplinary team
- Understanding of the Mater mission and values and the ability to engage others in living these values in the Subacute team
