Remuneration: $33.97 - $47.69 per hour

About you
We are seeking a Registered Nurse who is keen to take on a key leadership position within Ward 5B. Ward 5B is a 30 bed acute medical ward you will be caring for a wide variety of patients under numerous specialities including, general medicine, respiratory, gastroenterology including eating disorders, as well as outliers from our medical oncology and haematology departments.
The primary focus of the Team Leader is coordinating all aspects of patient care, discharge planning and patient flow. This role encompasses rotations into the Team Leader role which is a Monday to Friday roster pattern. The Team Leader role is shared amongst numerous Registered Nurses within the department. You will work alongside a full time Clinical Nurse Educator, numerous Clinical Nurse Specialists and preceptors to provide leadership and guidance to the multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities
Support the Nurse Unit Manager to provide effective leadership and management of the ward.
Maintain harmonious relations with staff and behave in a professional manner
Recognise and facilitate the effective implementation of patient flow and discharge-planning principles across ward
Plan appropriate care in consultation with patient and multidisciplinary team
Prioritise and implement planned care to achieve expected outcomes of established priorities
What you bring
Demonstrated leadership skills and/or previous experience “in charge” with the ability to supervise and organise work whilst ensuring deadlines are met
Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity
Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and experience in nursing
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
