About the new Geelong Children's Emergency Department
The Children's Emergency Department is a leading-edge addition to the Geelong Emergency Department dedicated to providing high-quality emergency care to children in the Barwon Region.
The new Children’s Emergency facilities will have dedicated treatment spaces, including fast-track and short-stay beds. The facility has been designed to provide a private, calm and reassuring environment for children and their families.
The Children’s Emergency Department will complement the current modern Emergency Department at Barwon Health – one of the largest regional health services in Victoria, caring for approximately 80,000 emergency cases annually.
Under Barwon Health’s Emergency Department model of care, patients are streamed to dedicated assessment areas including fast track, adult, resuscitation, trauma, short stay and mental health areas.
About the role The Children’s Emergency Department will be staffed with nursing roles of all levels, including Grade 2 Registered nurses, Education and Support, Safety and Quality Nurses, Equipment Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Associate Nurse Unit Managers.
Nursing staff will be responsible for the provision of patient focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to you, to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
To be successful you have:
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Sound written and verbal skills
- Emergency nursing experience / Paediatric nursing experience
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
The positions will require you to be available to work rotating shifts including morning, afternoon, night shift and weekends.
