Evolving to meet the community need since 1988, Youth Futures is one of WA’s oldest and largest youth specialist organisations currently providing 30+ programs and services across three core streams: 

  • Homelessness
  • Education and Training
  • Support and Wellbeing.

Since 2001 we have been delivering appropriate education programs for disengaged and at-risk young people through our Anchor Point program and Youth Futures Community School.

The role

We are seeking psychologists to join our Youth Needs Assessment Service, who provide psychological support to young people within Youth Futures education programs.

You will conduct assessments to appraise psychosocial functioning of young people (13-20 years) including behavioural observations, clinical interview and psychometric assessments in accordance with the Australian Psychological Society Guidelines. Other duties include: 

  • Carrying a caseload of clients
  • Providing individual, group or family intervention as clinically indicated.
  • Operate as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Consulting with colleagues and liaison with external services.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to a team of Clinical Psychologists, including peer supervision
  • Deliver information sessions to staff on psychological topics

You will generally work with young people who are already engaged in an existing Youth Futures service, program or initiative, as part of a holistic client-centered model of service delivery. 

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in the area of psychology
  • Registration as a psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience in a range of clinical psychological assessment and intervention techniques
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant Government Acts, Legislation and Policies
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current Drivers Licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a youth-focused setting
  • Experience working with young people where child protection issues exist
  • Demonstrated ability to provide psychological services to individuals who have experienced trauma

Work Conditions

  • Monday - Friday
  • 8am - 4pm
  • 4 weeks annual leave (During School Holidays)
  • Supervision Budget
  • Professional Development Budget
  • National Employment Standards

Base salary is $88,725 - $110,000 (depending on the position). In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 tax free per annum. Youth Futures, and Youth Futures Community School are registered charities and offer excellent Fringe Benefits opportunities including salary sacrifice.
