The Service
The Tasmanian Health Service – North West region encompasses two hospitals, the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH), in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) in Latrobe. We are currently seeking applications for Registrars (Paediatrics) to work across the North West region.
The NWRH is a modern facility that provides acute care facilities for residents of the North West region of Tasmania. It is a University Teaching Hospital for the Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania.
Our registrars are actively involved in ward rounds and patient assessment and management and find they are well prepared for further registrar training opportunities.
The role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of inpatients at the NWRH, including neonates in the special care nursery and postnatal ward. Outpatients’ duties include participating and conducting multi discipline Paediatric clinics. The successful applicant is also required to attend to referrals from the emergency department across both sites and to attend deliveries in labour ward and theatre at the NWRH. Additional responsibilities include teaching and supervision of junior staff and medical students, participation in the academic program and clinical governance activities.

Details of Appointment
Fixed Term full time, shift worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from July 2024 until July 2026
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $131,000 - $183,500 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration
