About the Role
As the Regulatory Compliance Coordinator (RCC), you'll oversee audits within the Animal Care and use landscape, offering recommendations to address any issues and providing clear advice on compliant practices to stakeholders. Your role is crucial in ensuring adherence to legislation and codes of practice, promoting best practices, and upholding ethics and integrity in animal-based research and welfare.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinate and conduct audits relating to the Animal Care and use program at The University of Melbourne, including inspections of licenced premises
  • Produce high quality audit reports to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Provide sound and accurate advice in regulatory matters.
  • Coordinate the follow up to audit findings.
Who we are looking for
You will excel in this role if you possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent written communication abilities. Your experience in influencing stakeholders and attention to detail will ensure effective coordination of audits and provision of accurate advice on compliant practices. Additionally, your ability to work independently and within a team will contribute to safeguarding ethics and integrity in animal-based research and welfare.You will also have:
  • The appointee will have a tertiary education in a degree with at least 2 years' subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience in Regulatory Compliance and auditing; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • A sound understanding of the animal research ethics process,
  • Working knowledge of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and regulations, the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific purposes, and the Victorian Code of Practice for the Housing and Care of Laboratory Mice, Rats, Guinea Pigs and Rabbits.
