Your Role: Are you driven by a passion to make a positive impact on the lives of others? As a Rehabilitation Counsellor, you will play a crucial role in guiding individuals through their recovery journey, assisting them in returning to a safe and sustainable career. Working with clients facing diverse medical conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, cancer, neurological conditions, and mental health challenges, you will contribute to their unique recovery plans. No two clients are alike, requiring a thoughtful, individualised approach beyond a standard checklist.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct vocational counselling and vocational assessments to identify suitable employment goals
- Provide client-centred support to facilitate recovery and return to work goals
- Assist clients in developing strategies for work readiness and capacity building
- Collaborate with treating medical providers to ensure medical support of identified goals
- Identify and develop strategies to overcome barriers preventing clients from returning to work
- Develop graduated return plans in consultation with medical providers
- Support clients in establishing both short and long-term goals beyond claim entitlements
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation
- Tertiary qualifications in Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology, or equivalent
- Registration with AHPRA, ASORC, or RCAA (or other relevant body)
- Passion for assisting individuals in navigating injury recovery and return to important life activities
- Strong report writing skills
- Knowledge of the labour market and employment trends
- Experience in job-seeking support, including resume and cover letter writing
- Preferably experienced in life insurance
- Familiarity with workers' compensation in South Australia within government or self-insured employers
- Current unrestricted driver's license with own reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance
- National police clearance
