POSITION DESCRIPTION
1. Possess a sound understanding of facade and roof weatherproofing principles, including a professional awareness of relevant authority requirements, and design standards and practices.
2. Demonstrate strong working knowledge of typical building materials, systems, and their construction including:
a. Metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminium and others);
b. Concrete, and concrete derivatives;
c. Protective coatings;
d. Masonry and stonework;
e. Timber;
f. Waterproofing (liquid and sheet systems); and
g. Roofing and cladding materials.
3. Working knowledge of common remedial strategies, including:
a. Concrete repair;
b. Waterproofing repair and renewal;
c. Steel corrosion treatment;
d. Timber repair and replacement techniques; and
e. Re-sealing techniques for glass, metal and masonry substrates.
4. Experience in the preparation of consulting reports including:
a. Condition assessment reports;
b. Site visit reports (construction phase reporting);
c. Tender documents including technical specifications and pricing schedules;
d. Drawings for the purpose of developing engineering solutions.
5. Perform as a capable and reliable team and project member in your technical field tenders
THE INDIVIDUAL
The individual fulfilling the role of Remedial Engineer has the following qualifications, skills, and personal qualities.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum).
2. Holds or is eligible for Engineers Australia Chartered status (must hold this or equivalent qualification within 2 years of commencing role); and holds or is eligible for registration in relevant professional engineer register for the building construction industry.
3. Current Australian driver’s licence.
4. Senior trade qualification in rope access (IRATA Level 3 or equivalent); other trade access training a plus.
Skills
1. Self motivated and with strong lateral thinking skills, including ability to develop and apply designs and solutions from first principles.
2. Leader in the planning, execution and safe management of site inspections by rope other specialist access.
3. Basic understanding of budgeting and financial management.
4. Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to successfully communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences through use of written communication, verbal communication, and drawings.
5. An aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail.
6. Ability to effectively manage own time to meet project deadlines.
7. Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
8. Ability to build positive professional relationships.
